GIS Analyst - Full-Time, Contract Position

Avencia develops innovative, web-based software that uses mapping technologies and geography to solve complex, interesting, and novel problems. We serve a broad range of clients including governments, non-profit organizations, universities, and businesses. We have particular expertise in natural resource planning, economic development, crime analysis, real estate property analysis, and cultural resources, but are engaged in a wide range of other interesting projects. Avencia is seeking candidates for two full-time positions as a GIS Analysts to perform real estate parcel editing and research for a water utility. This work will be performed onsite at the client’s office and may begin as soon as October 1, 2009 but no later than November 1, 2009. These are temporary positions through June 30, 2010. Work may be available beyond June 30, 2010, but is not guaranteed.

Some skills for which we are looking:

* Strong background with ESRI ArcView and ArcEditor 9.2 or later
* Knowledge and experience editing versioned layers stored in ArcSDE
* Feature interpretation from aerial photos
* Experience with real estate and land record information
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Detail-oriented
