Thin Clients Worth Another Look?

According to Euan Davis of Forrester Research, “Large thin-client vendors (such as HP, Sun Microsystems, and Wyse Technology) have long evangelized the benefits of thin-client computing at the desktop for its lower TCO and streamlined administrative management and security.” While [it's noted] that the plummeting prices for PCs have eroded much of the upfront cost advantage of thin clients, the savings in ongoing management are significant. [Some agree] that “lower acquisition costs should still be sought but should not be the primary objective,” although thin-client pricing is getting more competitive, citing recent price cuts on HP’s Neoware (www.hp.com) products.
