Redlasso Soon Coming Out of Beta

Company:

Philadelphia Business Journal profiles media search engine company Redlasso today.

"RedLasso is trying to market it to content providers as a sort of defense against sites like YouTube.com, which allows people to post and e-mail video clips.

A TV station, for example, would pay RedLasso to put its search engine on the station's Web site, where visitors could use it to search the station's programs and make clips that they could post to the site or e-mail to others. The search engine could benefit the station by attracting people to the Web site, not only to make their own clips, but to see others' clips. The station also could put ads on e-mails of clips made on its site."

Redlasso has an impressive list of board members and advisors including Pat Croce, former Safeguard Scientifics Inc. Chairman and CEO Warren V. "Pete" Musser and Niraj Patel, chief information officer at Capmark.

The search engine is still in beta but CEO Ken Hayward plans on opening up to the public sometime next month.
