OurShelf

A 2009 DreamIt Venture, OurShelf is a web-platform to catalog you personal goods on a digital "shelf", and does this in a social environment.

With OurShelf, people can do four things with their stuff:
1.) They catalog it. Everyone has some way of organizing their DVDs or books on their shelf, but it can be hard to track, organize, and search through. Sometimes you wish you could see your collection when you're at the record store or browsing the discount DVDs. OurShelf provides you with an easy platform to do this.
2.) They share. People lend eachother books, DVDs, home appliances, folding tables, kids-wear all the time. How to go about searching out items to borrow? And who do you know has the item you're looking to borrow? OurShelf gives you a way to borrow and lend items within your trusted network, and track them until they're returned.
3.) They use it to disover new items. People use their own collections and their friends' collections to find new items that might appeal to them. Through browsing other people's shelves on OurShelf, it's easy to find something new that interests you.
4.) They interact around their stuff. People form book clubs, movies clubs, or interest groups based around the items, genres, creators, artists, and authors that appeal most to them. OurShelf groups allow these people to interact through discussions, reviews, and shared group shelves. Additionally, users can socially shop using these shared shelves as well!
